1-Day Seminar ‘Doing Business in Sustainability Transitions’

Sustainability transitions is a concept developed in research and policies that refers to large scale societal change needed to address persistent problems of unsustainability. The concept explains the mechanisms of inertia (institutions, power, politics, and routines) as well as disruptive change and how one can anticipate and adapt to these.
Taking a sustainable development perspective, this seminar will explore how emerging global transitions can contribute to sustainable development in Suriname and what this would require in terms of governance and entrepreneurship.

Prof. Dr. Derk Loorbach,
Director of The Dutch Research Institute For Transitions and Professor of Socio-economic Transitions at the Faculty of Social Science, both departments of Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is one of the founders of the transition management approach as new form of governance for sustainable development. He has over one hundred publications in this area and has been involved as an action researcher in numerous transition processes with government, business, civil society and science.
