On the 9th of November 2017, Rotary Club Paramaribo Central visited FHR to plant a tree in our  backyard. Rotary Fellows around the globe have been working to help save our environment by planting trees in every member country.

The goal of the Rotary is to plant 100 million trees by this year. FHR supported this noble cause by planting a tree in her backyard. By doing this FHR helps Rotary Fellows achieve  their goals regarding: youth, hunger, vision and environmental projects, from which communities all over the world, and also in Suriname will benefit.

Why plant with us?

• Trees are the engines of economic development;
– High nutrition food source for humans, animals, wildlife and insects
– Sustainable building materials and fuel
– Canopies in urban areas to cool, reduce energy use, absorb pollution and increase property values

• Trees protect our environment and;

– Increase groundwater recharge, prevent runoff and loss of soil
– Create habitat for wildlife – Produce oxygen, use carbon dioxide, improve public health
– Slow global warming by storing carbon
– Trees and woodlands provide spiritual renewal energy
– Walking in the woods soothes the soul
