My 21 weeks FHR experience

Intern Shekinah Snijders shares her FHR experience in this third edition of the newsletter. Shekinah is a Business Communication student at HAN University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen). This is her story:
“Being that my course is international it was required for me to do my 21 weeks internship abroad. I was granted an opportunity at FHR at the Relations Department with Miss Ledes (Manager Relations Department) as my coach. The first person I met with was Mr. Lim A Po and he said: “I will not tell you what to do, I want you to explore for yourself. But you must know that I will be here to guide and help you if necessary.” At that point, I can admit now I was afraid to disappoint since I felt I was being thrown into the deep sea all alone, however, looking back that was the best thing that happened to me. I made myself a promise that day, that I would not disappoint and would learn from every little thing possible during the 21 weeks I had ahead of me. And I did not break my promise.
My internship at FHR has allowed me to improve my professional skills, from the smallest things such as calling the media to being part of planning, and setting up and executing “events.” My coach, Miss Ledes, included me in every task she had to conduct, therefore, I learned a lot from her. Because she believed in me, I had the courage to start a task from scratch and, with hard work and perseverance, see it through to the finished product. This allowed me to improve my interpersonal skills such as communicating better with others, being more flexible and learning to be social. FHR has allowed me to become more courageous, independent and even confident that I am studying my passion. It wasn’t always easy, but it was definitely worth it. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity that has been granted to me.

Stage Intake 2018 De volgende intake voor stage start op maandag 12 maart 2018. Studenten die minimaal 60 credits hebben behaald voor jaar 1 en minimaal 45 credits voor jaar 2 mogen hun stage verzoek indienen. Op de drive zijn alle relevante documenten te vinden indien studenten zich willen inlezen en hun stageverzoek willen voorbereiden. Studenten: houd het niet op die ene stage. Solliciteer bij minimaal drie bedrijven en geef de moed niet op bij het solliciteren. Tot slot. Slechts per mail of per brief een stage verzoek indienen, is soms niet voldoende. Blijf bellen of ga persoonlijk langs als het ook telefonisch niet lukt een afspraak te maken. Immers, de aanhouder wint!
