After completing the BBA specialization Law and Business, the graduate is able to manage business processes with legal interfaces.
Within the professional practice, the graduate is able to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of legal and other business processes within companies. Identifying and analyzing risks for parties and ensuring that decisions within the business process comply with Surinamese laws and regulations are also part of his/her duties. The graduate can independently and result-oriented apply his/her professional knowledge to provide legal advice as a legal business professional. The graduate works multi- and interdisciplinary with lawyers and professionals from other domains.
Graduated Business Law students can work in legal services: in support of the notary, the bailiff practice, the legal profession, corporate lawyers, as well as at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the brokerage and the insurance, banking and credit sector.
The two-year basic programme is composed of solid knowledge and skills components. The basic programme covers the various disciplines of business and the business cycle serves as the common thread. The phases of the business life cycle are treated in the curriculum during the first three semesters as three themes, namely 'business planning', 'business operations' and 'business consolidation'. At the beginning of the programme, the characteristics of these phases are treated separately, but as the programme progresses, they are considered together. This is done, for example, in projects, assignments and cases.
At the second level, you must choose from ten specializations that correspond to the four main specializations (Finance, Management, Law and International Business) of the second year of the basic program. The internship takes place in the third year. In the fourth year, the program is concluded with a graduation assignment, based on practice-oriented research, in which the specific knowledge linked to the specialization in the third and fourth years is placed on top of the broad basis that students have acquired in the first two years. In this way, you are able to place the specific knowledge in a broader context than that of your own field of expertise, and to make a well-considered choice for a specialization.

Een renteloze algemene betalingsregeling met FHR treffen op basis van het maandelijks vermogen van de student/ouders/verzorgers. The Fund for Study Financing (FSS), managed by the National Development Bank (NOB), can be used to finance tuition fees and study materials. Download the application form via https://www.nob.sr/aanvraagformulier-studiefinanciering-suriname/fill it in and collect the required documents. The information package can then be submitted to the Finance department of FHR School of Business at Burenstraat 23 from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:30.
Every working student is encouraged to consult with his/her employer about support in paying tuition fees.

In partnership with FHR Graduate Institute for Higher Education, our graduates are able to progress to the Master's programmes of FHR Graduate Institute for Higher Education. For this purpose, a special "transition programme" is offered in which subjects such as language skills, academic skills and research skills are taught in preparation for successfully completing a Master's programme.

Het bachelorprogramma is nationaal en internationaal geaccrediteerd door het Nationaal Orgaan voor Accreditatie (NOVA) en de International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).
Na afronding van de BBA-afstudeerrichting Law and Business (Recht en Bedrijfsvoering) is de afgestudeerde in staat om processen van bedrijfsvoering met juridische raakvlakken aan te sturen. Binnen de beroepspraktijk kan hij of zij een bijdrage leveren aan de efficiëntie en effectiviteit van juridische en andere bedrijfsprocessen binnen ondernemingen. Ook het identificeren en analyseren van risico’s voor partijen en het erop toezien dat besluiten binnen het proces van bedrijfsvoering voldoen aan de Surinaamse wet- en regelgeving, behoren tot zijn of haar taken.
De afgestudeerde kan zelfstandig en resultaatgericht zijn vakkennis toepassen om als juridische business professional juridisch advies te geven. Daarbij werkt hij of zij multi- en interdisciplinair samen met juristen en professionals uit andere domeinen. Afgestudeerde Business Law-studenten kunnen werkzaam zijn in de rechtsdienstverlening, ter ondersteuning van het notariaat, de deurwaarderspraktijk, de advocatuur, als bedrijfsjuristen, alsmede bij de Kamer van Koophandel en Fabrieken, in de makelaardij en in het verzekering-, bank- en kredietwezen.

Juridisch Medewerker: is in staat om zelfstandig regelgeving toe te passen en juridische documenten te analyseren en te evalueren. Daarnaast wordt de afgestudeerde geacht om juridische vraagstukken, al dan niet zelfstandig, op te lossen, juridische documenten op te stellen en juridisch advies te geven.
Notarieel Medewerker: de afgestudeerde is in staat om al dan niet zelfstandig (juridisch) advies uit te brengen. Daarnaast kan hij ingezet worden voor het aanmaken van akten, dossiers en het afwikkelen van onroerend goed transacties.
Bedrijfsjurist: is verantwoordelijk binnen de bedrijfsvoering van een organisatie voor processen met een juridisch karakter en het oplossen van daaraan gerelateerde geschillen.
Legal Officer bij financiële instellingen: houdt zich bezig met het inventariseren, onderzoeken en analyseren van klantgegevens en beoordeelt of financiële transacties in overeenstemming zijn met de toepasselijke wettelijke regelingen.
Het Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programma duurt vier jaar en bestaat uit twee niveaus:
In het basisprogramma worden de verschillende disciplines van businessaspecten behandeld, waarbij de business cyclus als een rode draad door het programma loopt. De fasen van de levenscyclus van de onderneming worden in het curriculum gedurende de eerste drie semesters behandeld als drie thema’s, te weten ‘business environment and planning’, ‘business planning and operations’ en ‘business consolidation’. In het begin van het programma worden de kenmerken van deze fasen afzonderlijk behandeld, maar naarmate het programma vordert, worden ze in samenhang beschouwd. Dit gebeurt bijvoorbeeld in projecten, opdrachten en casussen. De theoretische basiskennis staat centraal in de vorm van beroepscompetenties gerelateerd aan de kernvakgebieden van het BBA-programma, in combinatie met het ontwikkelen van een integratieve kijk en de ontwikkeling van generieke competenties.
Het basisprogramma duurt anderhalf jaar ofwel drie semesters. Na het derde semester kies je een hoofdrichting: Finance, Management, Law (alle drie Nederlandstalig) of International Business (Engelstalig). Indien je een keuze maakt voor een hoofdrichting die een andere taal behelst dan welke jij gevolgd hebt, zal je een taaltoets moeten maken. Je maakt een gerichte en goed afgewogen keuze, doordat in het basisprogramma goed inzicht is verkregen in de inhoud en het beroepenveld van de verschillende richtingen.
Na de eerste twee jaar van het programma succesvol te hebben afgerond, kan je ervoor kiezen om een Associate Degree te behalen in de gekozen hoofdrichting. Hiervoor zal wel een afsluitende toets moeten worden gemaakt.
Na het succesvol afronden van het associate niveau ben jij als beginnende associate professional in staat om:
Op niveau 2 (het 3e en 4e jaar) wordt het programma specifieker door verdiepende kennisvakken en geïntegreerde opdrachten. Vanaf het derde jaar varieert het programma per afstudeerrichting. Deze afstudeerrichtingen zijn (afhankelijk van de gekozen hoofdrichting in jaar 2):
• Finance: Financial Accounting, Financial Sector Management en Management Accounting.
• Management: Marketing Management, Small and Medium Enterprise Management, Business Management en Human Resource Management.
• Law: Law and Governance en Law and Business.
• International Business: International Business and Management. (Engelstalig)
In het derde jaar vindt de stage plaats. In het vierde jaar wordt het programma afgesloten met een afstudeeropdracht, gebaseerd op praktijkgericht onderzoek, waarbij de specifieke, aan de afstudeerrichting gekoppelde kennis in het derde en vierde jaar wordt geplaatst bovenop de brede basis die studenten zich in de eerste twee jaar hebben eigen gemaakt. Op deze wijze ben je in staat om de specifieke kennis in een bredere context dan die van het eigen vakgebied te plaatsen en een weloverwogen keuze voor een afstudeerrichting te maken.
De hoofdrichting Law volgt na het basisprogramma van het BBA-programma. In de hoofdrichting wordt gewerkt aan een aanvullend specialisme, waarbij je door verdiepende kennisvakken en integrerende opdrachten klaargestoomd wordt voor de stage en, daaropvolgend, voor de definitieve afstudeerrichting, resulterend in de kwalificatie ‘professionalisering bekwaam’.
Op niveau 2 (3e en 4e jaar) wordt het programma specifieker door verdiepende kennisvakken en geïntegreerde opdrachten. In dit stadium kies je een afstudeerrichting, waarbij in het derde jaar de stage plaatsvindt. Het doel van de stage is om binnen het kader van het BBA-programma praktijkervaring op te doen en de theoretische kennis en beroepsvaardigheden aan de praktijk te toetsen.
Verder beoogt de stage dat je je verder oriënteert op jouw beroepskeuze en dat je je in een werksituatie qua houding en gedrag ontwikkelt tot een competente ‘business professional’. Het is daarom belangrijk dat de stage aansluit bij het beroepsprofiel en de competentiekaart van de hoofdrichting die je hebt gevolgd, en vooruitloopt op het beroepsprofiel en de competentiekaart van de afstudeerrichting die je voornemens bent te volgen na afronding van de stage.
In jaar 3, nadat in de eerste helft inclusief de stage is afgerond, heb je een goed zicht gekregen op de inhoud en het beroepenveld van de verschillende hoofdrichtingen. Je maakt dan een gerichte en afgewogen keuze voor de afstudeerrichting. Bij de hoofdrichting Law kan er gekozen worden uit de volgende afstudeerrichtingen:
